Annual Report of Marsal Sadan Project
Dear loving Sponsors,
Greetings and Prayerful wishes from Marsal Sadan!
Indeed we are so much obliged to you for the invariable support and encouragement that you have rendered during the academic year of 2016-17 for the holistic growth of our hostel tribal children. We are very thrilled to write down about the performance of St. Claret Hostel, Sahanagar.
Every blessings of the Lord is a vivid sign that God still loves us. But the reciprocity of this love is to be seen in each of us by loving the gift of God the children. Unlike other group, santhals are very strong in physically as well as emotionally. Unfortunately, they are paralyzed by their poor economical condition and the existing social stigma. As a result, they are not able to come up in the lives and considered to be the most neglected group in the society. They try their best to educate their children but fail in all ways due to their economic conditions. Hence to provide a greater chance for the growth of this section of people St. Claret Hotel, Sahanagar was started.
The unique purpose of the hostel is to bring social change in the Santhal tribal through qualitative English Education and holistic formation. Thus hostel provides the Santhal Children not only proper education but motivate them in all ways possible. There are two hostels set in the campus. It is functioned under the guidance of Fr.Anjan Kumar Nayak and Fr. Joseph Selvaraj the superior of the mission and the hostel in charge. We have also four other priests who render their service in various forms.

The children were able to recapitalise what they had studied in the previous academic year and to help them to be in connection with the present chapters of the year.
This is yet another opportunity for our students to exhibit their talents. Literally also to make the children efficient the hostel provides them the opportunity to discuss on different topics and come forward with their talent show. It extends the possibility to exhibit their talents in the field of oratory, dance, singing and acting. Every once a week, this meeting is organised by the students and they exhibit their talents in a colourful way.

On that day we used to prepare the food with new crop and share with all the hostel children as a sign of sharing each one’s happiness and joy.
To make our students aware of environmental crisis, this year we celebrated ECO day on 5th November 2017.as the part of celebration we had input on environmental crisis by Fr. It was organized1-3 December 2017 by Fr. Joseph Selvaraj. The presentation was mainly on over coming fear, shyness and low self esteem.co-operation and participation of students was good. Few motivation videos clips were screened and students enjoyed and learnt lot from the videos clips.
In our hostel, every week parents are allowed to meet their children. Unlike other Sunday, on 12th November, we gathered all the parents and discussed couple of things. Firstly, Fr. Anjan Kumar Nayak presented on the role of parents and Frs. John Soren, and Peter Johnson were present and they talked with the parents on the education of their children and they also emphasised the importance of their collaboration in the growth of their children by not allowing them to take more holidays. It was stressed that the students need to be present on time for the meals and they need to keep the hostel clean and tidy.
